Come get excited about color! Laura will present information about various aspects of color:
Find out the best colors to use on your basic color palette and why. Get ideas on how to tailor your color palette for your favorite subjects and style. In this class, you will create your own color-mixing wheel for a long lasting reference tool. These principals can be applied to other mediums, but Laura will be demonstrating with watercolor. Workshop format: alternating demonstrations and brief lectures and painting time. Class size is limited to 5 students to be certain that everyone receives attention. Once you have completed your registration you will be provided with materials lists and templates. Be certain to register early so you can reserve your space and come to class prepared. | It's Not Just About Color! Understanding Watercolor Pigment Properties - 4 hour workshop: Schdeule to be determined | ||
Watercolor paint comes in a wide array of gorgeous colors. We have all faced a rack full of paint and chosen colors that excite us. How often are those beautiful paints’ behavior perplexing and frustrating when you try to paint with them? Those colors don't always act the same way on paper! Come find out why. Laura will introduce you to the full array of pigment properties that will have an impact on how you build a successful paint palette. She offers in-depth coverage of properties such as:
A handout of definitions will be provided prior to class so we are all “speaking the same language”. Laura will be demonstrating these properties and you will have an opportunity to try some paints that have these properties. Laura will also show you how to test the paints on your palette for these various properties. This class presents quite a bit of technical information so class size is limited to 10 students. | Mixing Greens Watercolor Workshop - 4 hour workshop: Schdeule to be determined | ||
Many artists feel challenged when it comes to mixing natural looking greens, yet aren’t satisfied with the colors that are available from manufacturers; they just don’t look quite right. As a special supplement to Laura’s “Color!” class, she focuses on mixing your own clear natural greens from all three primary colors and how to alter those greens for use in a subject, so that lights and darks are homogenous. The workshop will include demonstrations, explanations and time for you to paint as well. Class format: alternating demonstrations and brief lectures with time working on your painting, plus (gentle) critique sessions. Class size is limited to 5 students to be certain that everyone receives attention. Once you have completed your registration you will be provided with materials lists and templates.
